WHEN TO USE SLEEP APPLIANCES?

As dentists, sleep disorders are not within our realm of expertise. We will, however, work with sleep specialists to help our patients get the sleep they need.

While CPAP machines are the “gold standard” of helping patients overcome sleep apnea, only about 20% of the people who need them actually wear them longer than one year.

Dental sleep appliances can be highly effective in helping patients breathe and sleep better. And they have a much higher compliance rate. They are recommended for patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.  But, they have also been shown to have very a positive affect for people with severe sleep apnea who cannot tolerate a CPAP machine.

If you have had a sleep study and have either:

=

Mild to Moderate Sleep Apnea

=

Severe Sleep Apnea and Are Unable to Wear a CPAP

…and would like to try an oral appliance, please call for an appointment.
